Which video card should I get?

Hello I want to buy a new video card for my pc. But I dont know which infos do you need to say the best and low priced card and I dont know how to look at those infos.

you will need to give the specs of the cpu your gonna pair it with. coz its pointless saying get a 780 or r9 290 if your trying to run it off a pentium 4.

The most important point to look at is the watts needed to run the card. Does your PSU offer enough Watts for that particular GPU. Then select highest performing card in your price range.

cpu: Amd Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.2 GHz
ram: 2 gb
by the way my pc is hp pavillion a1540n

200-240 V ~ 3.0 A

and my budget is max 150 $

Hmm i think it is better to save money to build an entirely new rig,a 2.Xghz dual core cpu won't able to handle current and future games or atleast it will be unenjoyable,well if you really want to play some games on your pc badly,you can get a cheap hd 6670 card or if you want to you can get a gtx 750 ti which doesnt need a new psu and great a mid gaming performance then work your way through a new mobo,cpu,psu,memory,hdd/sdd,case and transfer the gtx750 ti gpu on your new rig.

You will need to open up the side cover. It should be printed on the power supply.

Yeah, as is being said your system really is not adequate for an upgrade. It would be like taking a crappy old car and putting a mew engine in it the the car only lets you use 15-25% of the new engines potential. I'd suggest saving some money like 700-800 and do a decent starter build.

Yeah just save more money,instead of spending a $150 on a graphics card that couldn't use its full potential(bottle neck) the wait will be worth it I assure you that.

yes I know the cpu is very bad but i am not a pc player, i just want to play games like minecraft or league of legends. And I want to buy something cheap just to be able to play those games and after like 2 years i will build a new rig. So do you think hd 6670 is enough for me?

If you're running Minecraft without shaders and x512 texture packs, a 6670 should be just fine.
Also, for LoL my 5570 ran it at the highest settings, so a 6670 with no doubt should be able to run it fine.

But if you're planning on games like Crysis and Battlefield, build a new system.

Your missing the point my friend your pc is so very limited to nothing that will get you where you want. We can suggest GPU's but they wont really give you a good experience in those games. Minecraft is very system taxing especially CPU.

Well i don't know about MC(don't really play it but it relies more on the CPU),but I think you can run LoL at 720p at medium settings with the hd 6670.

No. What we are saying is it won't do anything for you to just buy a GPU. Have you opened it up to make sure it has a PCIE x16 Slot? What the PSU is rated for Wattage ?

Well if your just planning to play LoL I think theres no need for an entirely new pc,a 6670 or 7750 and maybe some ram will do the trick!

But i really recommend you to just wait and save money for an entirely new rig.Play any games you want haha!
Just make sure your computer's mobo have a PCI E x16 for the GPU,the 6670 or 7750 gpu will only use the power on the PCI E x16 lane,so theres no need for a new PSU,unless your PSU is super old.

If the PC is off Warranty crack open the side panel take a picture of the mother board most importantly the open slots on the motherboard and take a picture of the label on the Power Supply. This will help us identify what we can do for you my friend. I don't want to discourage you by any means but I just hate to see you spend money on a new GPU and get your hopes up and find out your system can't handle it or even have a place to put it.

Aye. Alas the available GPU slot is well shit It's an AGP 8x that's old school. The PCIE Slots are old architecture. I'm not even sure where to put you.

Look if your mobo has a PCI E x16 slot,if you don't know what it looks like just look it up on google,or just download CPU-Z and GPU-Z then use the screenshot button on the apps or use snipping tool from windows(maybe already installed in your system) uploud those images and post a link here.
