My wife and I bought a portable hard drive? a flash drive? I'm not even sure what it is. We bought it in Japan around 10 years ago. It's called a buffalo bumper body. It has no software installation (as far as I remember) and acts like a flash drive except the casing is the same size as a smart phone and has 2 different USB ports that require a connection.

My wife and I always watch downloaded programs by putting those programs on to our buffalo drive and then connect that to our TV and watch those through a media center. It is only 40 gb and we are looking for something much bigger.

I was given a seagate desktop backup drive a while ago while it does it's job, it's not what I wanted. It requires software installation and everytime I connect it, it automatically tries to start backing up the PC hard drive.

I am looking for something that works just like what I have now. I plug it into the usb ports on the computer, it opens up, I drag and drop video files into it, disconnect and I am done. very simple.

I thought about buying a Toshiba Canvino but after seeing a video review, it looks just like my seagate backup drive.

What kind of storage drive am I looking for?

Exactly. They're all the same, except for the obnoxious software that they want you to use.
