Hello,

I had this system:

MOBO: ASUS P8P67 Pro
CPU: i7 2600k
RAM: 2X Corsair XMS3 4GB
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast TX850
VC: EVGA GTX 760 2GB SC

A month ago my rig start to fail on start up, I push forward and a transistor burned my MOBO, I tough it was the mobo because I bought it used, so the new one is ASROCK Z77 Extreme, and I checked the voltage of my psu and everything was ok. I installed the new motherboard, but I heard a weird noise, so maybe I was wrong and after all the psu was the failure all along, doesn't matter, right now I'm not going to risk so I'm buying a new PSU, but my question is, 850 watts was to much power for my rig? How much do you thing I'll need if I'm planning doing SLI?

I'll appreciate any recommendations.

You can't have too much power, it isn't efficient to have too much, but you can't hurt anything because of the way electricity work.

The power supply will only give the motherboard, what it asks for.

All electrical devices work this way
Demand controls load.

The 760 calls for a 500 watt power supply, but a quality 450 watt will be fine.
I personaly would go with a 500 watt.
EDIT
Sorry I missed SLI
Never Mind.

The seasonic 750 watt equivalent is less than the corsair, why not get slightly bigger for less as the seasonics are excellent units.

because my experience with the Corsair HX 650 was great... which is why my personal recommendation is go with the Corsair.

and it's not cheaper... after today the $20 coupon runs out, and it will cost the same...

Thank you for your replies.
So a Seasonic 700w will do the job?

Yup, Seasonic makes great power supply and 700w is more than enough if you wish to go with them.
