I will be graduating high school this summer and I have been looking for a laptop for college. I have been thinking about these two.

Lenovo Y510p
Gigabyte P35k

I am leaning more towards the Gigabyte at the moment. What do you guys think would be the better choice? I will be using it for gaming and school work and want to spend under $2,000. I know about the Razer Blade, but I don't think I want to spend that much. Thanks for the help!

The Gigabyte kicks the s**t (could be snot) out of the Lenovo and I highly recommend it given its USB3 + HDMI ports as well as VGA which you don't see often but is good w/projectors (college, no?). However, I think you should check out the more recent LinusTechTips channel videos on gaming laptops, as he's got some good stuff coming through. Look into MSI, perhaps. If you don't wanna change, get the Gigabyte. You won't be disappointed, but you might do better for less.

I am buying from the U.S. I would really like the height to be under an inch, but that is not too important. IMO the Alienware 14 is too thick for me. I would like the weight to be 6.5 pounds at most, but the lighter the better. And I am also looking for around a 15.6" screen. Thanks.

Be that as it may; can I suggest waiting the few days to buy the MSI GS60 Ghost - it's being released in 3 days time at www.xoticpc.com and the specs will be the new cards that will run basically everything on high fluently.
the model is similar the GS70 Stealth which is the thinnest single GPU laptop on the market. Also there's a new model of that coming out but it'll be just over $2000 whereas the ghost will be around $1600-1700 may be a bit more if you want some customisation.
Hope this helps

I have been searching around and I can't find any info on the GS60 except for an Engadget post that briefly lists some specs. I saw some info on the xoticpc site, but I could not find a release date. I think I just found the right laptop, I just need more info.
