I accidentally bought this:

Manufacturer Recertified OCZ Synapse Cache SYN-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB (64GB cache capacity) SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Link:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227931

My question is: Is there any way I can use this SSD as my boot drive with the OS and software installed, instead of using it just as a cache drive for my HDD? I'm open to reformatting or any other ideas you may have. I don't want to have to buy a different SSD for this if I can use this one.

Sorry, but there's not.

Just like with a normal 7200rpm 1TB HDD that has a 64MB cache, that cache can't be accessed by the end user, the same principle applies to your Synapse.

It is a 64GB SSD and the end user doesn't have access to the 64GB cache. You should still be able to use it as a boot drive, but again its capacity is only 64GB.

Thanks for your help. I really thought this was a 128 GB SSD that I could use as my main drive with the OS and main program software. It came free with my GTX660 graphics card but, live and learn.

Yes technically it is a 128 but it has a 50% over provisioning hard coded into the firmware. It would be impossible to change that without modifying the Firmware risking damage to the drive. It is designed to use as a cache for SRT or their own software.
