Is it possible to plug a 24 pin cable into 28 pin (18+10) PSU?

I'm trying to cram an NZXT Hale82 V2 550W PSU (fully modular) into a Node 304 but I've run into a problem. I really want to keep this PSU for the looks but due to the incredibly cramped innards of this case, I have to use a short cable kit and here's where the problem arises. The PSU has a 28 to 24 pin motherboard cable, 18+10, but my short cable is standard 24 to 24. I can't seem to find any info at all about 28 pin anything, or info on the PSUs wiring, so I'm asking, can I just dremel the 24 pin into an 18+6 and use that?

If I go the cutting route, the holes for the two 18s line up perfectly, and the 6 would plug into the 10 in the center, with 2 pins open on the left and right. Not sure if relevant, but trying to give as much info as possible. I think because the pins fit, it'll be fine, but I want a second opinion before I risk frying something.

I wouldn't recommend it as the wires may not like their new positions. And is they don't work, there goes everything in your computer.

I would contact NZXT support and see what they tell you before hacking the wire. They might actually have a shorter cable available, one that doesn't show up under any of their accessory listings. If support chat doesn't work, then see if you can call by phone.

That power supply should have these standard power connections.

Motherboard connection is standard 20+4 on the other end, but this is my problem, new cable on bottom doesn't fit.
