So I intend on spending about $600 on the upgrade, for the purpose of running upcoming games on med-high settings. Example of some games I wanna play are Dark Souls II and Elder Scrolls Online.

I basically want to be able to run high fps, while getting some pretty good graphics. I got this desktop in 2007, so I'm assuming that these parts are going to be pretty outdated.

Ideally I'd like to make this in about 2 weeks.

Feel free to suggest whatever parts you think I'll need (baring in mind the $600 budget). It may come to the point where all I'll keep from the Alienware is the super cool case design (/sarcasm).

Thanks a lot for reading!

Wow thanks a lot. I actually did have a question about the OS, as I am new to building/upgrading computers.

So if I got a new motherboard/cpu and hard drive, I'd probably have to get a new OS? That's probably a stupid question lol.

And I also noticed you added a case to that build. Do you a think a new case is necessary? I thought I could just unhook all the outdated crap in my Alienware case and reuse the space.

Well yes if you change the Motherboard, it invalidates your copy of Windows and also if you change the HDD obviously the files won't magically reappear on your new one xD

As for the case, what case is it exactly? If you could maybe search your exact build on the internet and find the exact case name, post it back here and I'll check out the compatibility, thanks.

Yeah screw it, I'm just gonna get a new case. I'm tired of looking at the Alienware case anyway lol.

Would I be able to add 8gb of ram instead of 4gb with the current set-up?
