As stated above I am looking to invest into a new CPU, as of right now I have a FX - 4100 CPU. I don't know why but the Intel Core i3 430 has my attention as I am willing to buy a new motherboard for it. Which CPU would be good for gaming?
Diablo 3
Guild wars 2
League Of Legends
Crysis 3
BF4
Thief
Dishonoured
etc...
and I'm just curious whats equivalent to a FX 8350 intel version. P.s I am not overclocking

Man, there is only one answer to this, you could listen to people's answers for hours going back and forth but it's only solid statistics that can tell you what is better or worse. If you want better game performance, get the AMD CPU, if you want better non-gaming experience, get the Intel CPU. That is going by statistics.

My own opinion, an AMD FX-8350 when Overclocked = i5 4570 Intel Processor.
If Intel i5 4570 is > Intel i3 4340, therefore the AMD FX-8350 when Overclocked is > Intel i3 4340.

The i5 4440 is about the Intel equivalent to the FX8350 if you don't overclock. The i5 4570 is probably close to a maxed out overclocked FX8350. The i3-4340 has WAY stronger single thread performance but would lose out overall against the FX8350. Especially considering you can get a FX8320 for about the same price as the i3-4340. The FX8320 would be a better buy at that price range.

I would choose the AMD FX-8350 because I would be an overclocker but it clearly has better performance when it comes to using cores which will be a great advantage in some games, intel will win when it comes to the single core performance. They are pretty 50/50 in my opinion but if a game takes advantage of cores then the AMD FX-8350 is a much better option.

Hope I helped :)

When you say if a game takes advantage of cores what do you mean. Like 2+ cores cause the i3 4340 has "4" cores if you count in hyper threading thats why I'm finding it such an attractive buy.

Some games only use 1 or 2 cores, so the i3 has a quicker per core performance. Those games might run better.

Some games, like BF4, will use all 8 cores. That's 4x the performance of the i3 from the extra cores.

The 8 core chip can load different programs to different cores as well. It's makes for a very smooth OS experience. Not everything takes advantage of Hyperthreading either, since it's not techincally another core, just the ability of 1 core to do two processes.

I'd take a lower end, true quad i5 over the i3.

Many games are now being utilized for more than 4 cores, such as BF4, which utilizes 7... In BF4, the 8350 eats the I3... The 8350 is a great all rounder and it will get better in the future as games are coded for 8 cores... it will be less expensive too as you would not have to buy another motherboard

I'm talking about MP which is far more taxing for the CPU than single player..

Yeah you're right. The Fx 8350 it is. Thank you very much. One more thing now will the FX 8350 bottleneck a Radeon R9 270X, and another thing Go with the Geforce GTX 760 Or Radeon R9 270X if so Will the FX 8350 Bottleneck the Geforce GTX 760 as well?

I would not buy the i3 4340 for any purpose just because of price. If you want an i3, get the i3 4130. The 4340 is almost the price of the i5 4430 and i5 4440.

You already have a AM3+ motherboard, will it even support 125w cpus? Your best bet may be to get a FX6300. The FX6300 would be a huge upgrade over the FX4100.

It won't bottleneck anything. I have an AMD FX-6300 and a GTX 760 and it doesn't bottleneck. So you've nothing to worry about.
