Hello All,

I am considering putting together a HTPC/Gaming machine to sit in my home entertainment system. Something similiar to the up and coming Steam Boxes that are on the horizon. I was debating on whether or not to purchase one of the new consoles, but I think I have ultimately decided on putting together a new PC for emulation. I would appreciate any input into this build I put together, mainly if its as capable/powerful as the new generation consoles, has plenty of room for upgrades in the future, can run well using a Panasonic 50" HDTV as the monitor, and will be fairly quiet during its operation. Thanks for your help!

Let me know if I can save any money by changing any of these parts out for increased or minimal loss in capability. I found all of these on Newegg, but I am open to using other sites for purchases if I can save $$$.

Thanks again!

The case is low profile and the graphics card will not fit

Use the GD 05 instead

But even with that cases good cooling I think it is wise you use an intel dual core . Even a G3220 pentium is faster than the original i3 and its very low wattage . A H81 chipset board will be cheap enough [ but only has two RAM slots ] .

You can run it comfortably with a 500 watt pcu . Modular is highly reccommended

Thanks for the response. I have read that a quad core processor is a must for emulation of later consoles however. Besides that, does the h87 chipset have upgrade options in terms of processor?
