It's my first build and I've just learned about electrostatic discharge. I have the bracelet, but do not know how to correctly ground myself. Does anyone know how to?

Solution
The best thing to do is build on a non conductive surface like a glass table top or wooden floor. Avoid wearing static clothing like polyester and really fluffy socks. As for grounding yourself, install the power supply first, plug the power cable into the power supply and connect to it an outlet in your home. Leave it powered off and clip the bracelet to the side of your case and attach the wrist strap to yourself. The part that the side panel clips into is the best since the teeth from the bracelet won't scratch anything visible when the computer is assembled. If you aren't paranoid like me, the simplest thing is just building on a non conductive surface, leaving the computer plugged into the wall and powered off, and periodically...

You do not need an ESD bracelet or ESD mat to build a PC. PC components are incredibly resistant to ESD. you'd have to rub your GPU all over a cat in order to damage it, and even then the damage would come from a pissed off cat rather than ESD.

The best practice is to mount and secure the PSU first, and then connect the PSU to the wall via the power cable with the PSU breaker turned off (the rocker switch on the back of the PSU). This will connect the PSU to earth ground, which will ground the PSU's chassis and anything that touches it including the chassis and yourself.

edit: I looked down at my floor and it was dirty, if you do build on the floor make sure it's clean.

or you could just use the strap.its like using a condom.yeah if you dont use it nothing bad may happen.if you do use i you know nothing bad is gonna happen.although i would use this in combination with pinhedds method and hook the static strap to the chassis.
