Hi. Yes the title is my question!

Should i buy a 290 OC or regular 290x? OR should i go for the GTX 780? Are there much performance difference? The prices aren't too far apart.

What will bring the best performance and be most future proof. Feel free to take things like Nvidia's PhysX or AMD's whatever they have into your assessment.

Thanks!

My CPU is an i5 2500 and MB is msi p67a-gd65 b3 if it matters.

That is a absolutely horrible comparison. First you compared the stock versions of the GPU, not the OC. Second, you used a highly OCed version of the 780 against the stock 290. Third it doesn't include any tangible benchmarks like this one:

The R9 290 is better than the GTX 780 overall, especially at higher resolutions thanks to the extra GDDR5 and as well as the faster GDDR5. And this is a stock 290 vs a stock...

Chickenator, right now on Newegg the Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X is $599.99 but the Asus R9 290X DCII is $619.99, $20 bucks more, and it will easily outperform the GTX 780:

Again that is a stock version, not a OCed version of the 290X which will perform even better.

I would suggest grabbing the Asus R9 290X DCII while it is at such a good price:

The R9 290 will last longer due to the larger amount of memory and memory bandwidth as that's what holds other GPUs back.
