PC randomly not detecting GPU until hard reset

Hey all,

I built this rig about a year and half ago,and several months ago, my PC began booting with no display. It was a rare occurrence, and didn't bother me much. But eventually it started happening more and more frequently. I eventually realized it wasn't detecting the card, booting with on board graphics, and would continue to do so until a hard reset.

When the machine does detect the gpu, everything works perfectly. I have never had an issue while in use.
But once the computer either sleeps or shuts down, it's a toss up whether it will work next time. I'm at kind of a loss. I have reseated both the ram and the card itself, testing it in the second PCIe slot, and it will begin to do the same thing. I have reset as well as updated the BIOS, to no avail. And i have the latest nvidia drivers. This was my first and only build, so I don't have any other parts to tests sadly. So I turn to you guys. What do you think?

Thanks in Advance.

MSI NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti (HDMI Connection)
ASUS P8Z77-V
8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3
Corsair HX650w PSU Power Edition

I'm afraid i don't have a suggestion. But, am curious to know if you get anything figured out. As i think i have the same problem.
I started having problems a 4-6 months ago and replaced both the gpu and power supply and still continue to have issues And have confirmed that the GPU does work on another computer.
If i pull the gpu from the computer, no problems. None at all. However if it's plugged in, it never boots correctly. Upon starting/restarting it will turn on, but not detect the GPU and i do not get a display. BUT, if i hold the power button and force the pc to shut down and then immediately hit the power button again, the computer loads. So, basically any time i need to restart i have to: start>shut down, then hit the power button, give it 30 seconds, hold the power button until it shuts down again, press the power button one more time, and viola! This can't be good for the system.
My specs are:
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
MSI N660 TF 2GD5/OC
ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3
Rosewill HIVE Series HIVE-650 650W Continuous

The only hardware i have not been able to rule out is the motherboard. Which I'm not going to replace unless it just completely goes out.
My only hope is that I'm missing a driver and/or a bios setting. Everything was current as of a couple months ago.
I saw that i can download BIOS files from my GPU's website. I'd like to try to see what that does, but i also don't want to kill the mobo.

Update:
So, my computer seems to be working completely normal now. MSI live update 5 came with my gpu and it suggested 3 driver updates (don't update your bios with this). Specifically, it was an AMD chipset driver, an HD audio driver, and a pci network driver. I uninstalled and reinstalled Nvidia GEForce experience and I also had a graphics driver update needed. And, one other thing i did, was changed all of my fans (4x 120mm) from high down to low. I saw someone with a similar issue with the HDD not loading and they had to give it a 5-second delay in bios so that everything wasn't pulling all at once. So, it's possible it could have been a power problem. Not that the psu is bad. But, that everything is getting started at once and it's not able to keep up.
So, you might want to try that if you have a bunch of fans maxed out like i did. Sounds dumb. But, again, those are the things i did. And, its working like normal.

Yep that sounds exactly like the issues i was having. The problem seems to have died down at the moment, it has only occurred maybe once or twice since my post. I think you maybe onto something with the fans, I am going to tinker with those first, and see what happens. I could see how there may be too much pulling at once. I"ll update once the problem occurs again or i am comfortable it fixed the issue.

I suggest you delete all your drivers in safe mode using driver sweeper

If its not a power issue, ill be trying this next
