New Hard Drive Not found

Hey everyone, so i finally got my computer up and running, but my new internal HDD isnt showing up in the bios or in disk management. ITs still reading the old 120gb HDD i have, but was hoping to partition the new one for more space ( WD 320gb internal hard drive).

Any tips?

Hi

If not showing in the bios it will not show in Device manager or Disk Management

check controller enabled in bios (especially if more than one controller)
read user guide for location of sata port for first & second hard disk + dvd drive
check SATA port enabled in BIOS (especially Dells)
check both power & data cable connected correctly at both ends

can you hear the disk starting up ?

Or is this an old PATA hard drive ?
does it share a ribbon data cable with the other drive?
If PATA (ATA/IDE) the jumpers for master, slave or cable select need to be correct
(details usually on sticker on drive )

or drive is dead ?
