I am upgrading my memory ram from 1gb to 3bg, I just bought 2gb ddr2 PC800 but I having problem with it, the pc always restarts when the windows logo appear, I checked the system information on bios and the ram is recognize, my ram memory is 3gb it just that my pc keeps restarting, Do I need to update my bios ? (this is probably why the seller of the ram asked me if there is a technician that will upgrade the memory for me)

I never update a bios before and im not familiar with bios, what is the easy step to update it ? Also if I did wrong in updating will my pc still gonna start? I'm just worried

here is my motherboard http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G31M3F.html

Solution
You do not need to update your bios and if you do it wrong your pc will not start. You are having problems because the 2gb stick is not working with the 1gb stick, and you should not do anything else until you fix it.
