hi, my cpu just died after a few great years in my game computer. and it just died yesterday, smoke and everything. i booted all my other stuff like my gpu hard drive and ect on my other computer and they are all fine. i was wondering if anyone can help me find anything that is more powerful than my old cpu and is cheaper as well. or should i just stick with buy a exact replacement of my old cpu.

my old cpu was a AMD PHENOM II X6 1055T 2.8 GHz

TY!

my motherboard is a msi 880GM - E43 which has a AM3 slot

MSI doesn't give a detailed list on what CPU's the support, their specs just say Phenom II, they should be contacted for what they support.
While it is AM#+, their bios *could* be a limiting factor.
