Hi :)
i have trouble with my Intel i7 2630qm (Laptop CPU). It gets way too hot. Even in idle core temps are around 70 C - 80 C. I disassembled the fan and cleaned out the dust. Applied new thermal paste (Cooler Master HTK-002) http://. Samsung applied way too much thermal paste, the WHOLE cpu was coverd in thermal paste (core temp around 90C !!!) . So i tried to remove it all but had some trouble with the pins as you can see. Pea size amount, got a nice spread, thin layer. Any Idea what went wrong i just can't figure it out.

You likely have dust that you haven't cleaned out.
My laptop seemed clean and had high temperatures, blew an air compressor hose into a tiny little nook and a massive amount of unseen dust blew out.

Try to completely clean out every spec of dust from the heatsink, even if you think its clean.

hey thanks for your answer. i did that, in addition to that i fully disassembled the fan and used a vaccum cleaner on high for the dust trapped in the radiator. Checked every gap with a bright LED light and can say that there is no dust.
I don't know what else i could do :??:

Hey anyone else ?
after checking everything again.... i have a clue.. could it be that the Cooler Master thermal paste has a very very very bad thermal conductivity ? I looked it up and it's around 0.8 W/m.k in comparison Arctic silver 5 has 8.5 W/m.k. If so i can't really understand why people give the cooler master paste an excellent review on Amazon....

Using a vacuum cleaner will NOT work! Not to mention it can create more than enough static electricity to damage your laptop!
Never use a vacuum cleaner on electronics EVER.

You need to use compressed air to BLOW out the dust properly, if you go for a keyboard cleaner can make sure you only hold it upright as to not spray the liquid gases directly out. You have likely yet to clean out ANY dust.

yeah, i cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol (~95%), i would say the cpu was clean, reflecting like a mirror. i also removed the old paste from the heatsink. It must be an illusion :) i always use these surgery gloves, so it can't be a finger print. It was because i lifted one side first so the thermal paste spread to one side.

why can't i use a vacuum cleaner ? i only used it on the radiator the fan itself was actually not attached to it. It was just the metall piece with no electronic components attached to it. i fully disassembled both parts.
