OK guys, the question in the title is the point of this post, but I'll set up the situation quickly. When I first set up my PC, I had one small SSD connected that I installed my OS and necessary drivers (including graphics drivers) on. Then, I connected a large storage HDD and CHANGED MY DEFAULT FILE PATH THROUGH THE WINDOWS REGISTRY so that it pointed to my storage drive. That way all my apps and games would download and install there by default. Fast-forward, I just upgraded my GPU and when I tried to uninstall and update drivers, I began having driver issues causing crashes. I believe I have pin-pointed the issue to many of the associated graphics driver files defaulting to the storage drive during install, but many of the .dll files going to the system drive because I told them to go there from the Nvidia installer. This wasn't an issue for my first set of drivers because I only had one drive installed. But now, it seems there's conflict issues.
SO, if I just specify my storage drive through the Nvidia installer when installing the drivers, it seems that this might fix my conflict, but will it be OK that the drivers and all associated files are not on the same drive as my OS and other system files? Alternatively, if I keep the install path in the installer pointed to my system drive, can I just copy and paste the folders that automatically go to my storage drive (on the default file path) back over to my system drive? Thanks for any input!
