No wifi internet working on any devices, ethernet only working on one laptop and not another!!!

I have been having issues with the wifi in my new flat since moving in (whole block of 7 shares internet). The latest is it was working fine for a while and then my girlfriend turned her laptop on and connected. now wifi doesnt work on any device (connects but doesnt give internet) and ethernet works fine on my laptop but not on hers. We are both windows 8 (mine is 8.1) and really need this sorted, please help!

Hi Mike,

As far as I know the master router has been reset already and it worked for a couple of days until my girlfriend tried her laptop (could be coincidental). They say its just us having huge problems, though the internet is pretty slow so the building is switching internet provider in a week or so. I'm just afraid the basic infrastructure will be the same and that we will have the same problems.

I googled it and found something about conflicting ip addresses but I'm not sure how to check it or fix it?

Hi

By default The router/wireless access point assigns IP address to Windows PC's
Unless you set fixed IP address.

Also PC's on local network should have unique names.


look up the ipconfig command

ipconfig /renew
or one of the other options may clear corrupt settings
