I was really looking at a price around to $850 but a little more would be doable.
Seems like I'll probably be happy with 280x but I am wondering if going cheap on a processor (say a 6300) to get a better graphics card (say a Radeon R9 290). I know it would cost a bit more overall.

I wouldn't be against a a Nvidia card but in the past I've had problems with them and generally prefer amd.

Some person pointed out to me that I should get a video card with high memory since I plan on using two monitors minimum (though while playing games I'd be willing to disconnect one).

Or maybe would it be worth getting a small ssd instead of the hard drive I picked (with the intention of adding a regular hdd later.)

(Worth noting I can get a copy of windows through my college for next to nothing so no need to add that to the list.)

Thanks so much for your time!

Firstly I changed your Memory, your better off to get 2x4GB sticks of memory, not just 1x8GB :)
Second I changed your PSU, you would need a little more I would say and Seasonic being the best PSU suppliers I chose their 620W PSU.

As for CPU/GPU thing, I would say keep what you have, it will perform flawlessly.

Ok thank you this is probably what I'll end up doing.
Your parts list didn't work but I will make the necessary changes myself.

Thanks again!
