Theoretically, these are the minimum requirements for Far Cry 3:
Pentium D 920 2.8 GHz or Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3600+ (Pass)
GeForce 8600 GT or Radeon HD 2600 Pro (7900 GS probably still faster than an 8600. Pass.)
2 GB RAM
Win Xp 32bit
DX 9
12 GB of hard drive space
Ancient rigs can still play things if the minimum requirements are set low enough. Not well, but, yes, launchable. So you happen to barely scrape by the minimum specs, and that's why you can still play it.
