So, let me start with system specs:

CPU: Intel i5 760 2.8GHz OC'd to 3.8GHz
GPU: ATi Radeon 6870 Sapphire Edition OC'd as far as the software that came with the card would let me w/o any errors.
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance (2x4GB)
Mobo: Asus P7P55 LX
PSU: Xion XON-700P12F 700W
Storage: Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM X2

So, about two days ago my computer started to make a whistling sound. I immediately turned it off and started to troubleshoot what could be causing the issue. After unplugging my computer, I re-greased and re-seated my CPU and heatsink (It needed to be done, I haven't changed it in about a year). I restarted my computer and it was still making the whistling sound, however now my PSU was making a loud grinding sound. I attempted after this to try a different graphics card (HIS 1650x). The PSU was no longer making the loud grinding sound, however it was still whistling. I placed my original card back into my machine and the grinding sound started again. I replaced RAM, unplugged HDD's, reseated and regreased my CPU again.

However, my machine stopped displaying to the monitor so I thought it was the graphics card (ATi Radeon 6870). Upon multiple reseats and attempting to try the 1650x, it finally started to display, however it was still making the whistling sound and the grinding sound (6870 was in my machine.) I pulled up HW monitor and my CPU was sitting at 25c and my GPU was sitting at 30c. After checking the temps, I turned off my machine and here I am.

My question would be: has anyone experienced anything like this? Which part should I start to look at to see if it needs being replaced or is there a fix to this? My machine in total is about 4 years old and it's been through two GPU's, a change in RAM, new heatsink and the addition of a new HDD. I've had the new GPU for about two years and that's the latest change. I'm so confused as to what is going on with my machine. Thank you to everyone in advance for your help. I greatly appreciate it!

*update* I've since attempted to reset the bios through removal of the CMOS battery for 5 minutes then replacing battery. I still get the whine, grinding sound and no display to my monitor. I've also attempted a more up to date card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650) and it heeded the same results. Loud whine, grinding from PSU and no display to monitor
