USB keyboard doesn't work in BIOS

Hello! :)

I have tried to find an answered topic for this problem but there is not even a topic about my problem so i made one. :P

My usb mouse (g700) works in BIOS but i can't access bios with my usb keyboard (USB Legacy support is enabled)
I use a PS/2 to enter BIOS.

Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P
I don't think that there is a hardware problem with the MOBO but i want some opinions about this.Thank you :)

  1. Check the manual. Is it only certain USB ports enabled? I know it was with my Gigabyte board. How do you even get in the BIOS if the keyboard isn't recognized?

You could try swapping the mouse and keyboard and see what happens.

Every usb port has legacy usb support enabled and i have tried in every port.I get in BIOS with a PS/2 keyboard.

I have already done that but it only recognizes my usb mouse and not the keyboard.

I'm at a loss. I read your manual and everything you did is right. You just may need to keep a ps2 keyboard on hand. If the mb is new you may want to RMA it. Sorry.

I don't think that it is the motherboard's problem because it recognizes the usb mouse and the keyboard is not a brand gaming like the mouse.i will test another usb keyboard on and i hope that it is the keyboard and not a problem on the MOBO,otherwise i will try to reset BIOS with the CMOS battery technique.
  6. Thanks for the support! I tested another USB keyboard and it works so it is just my crappy keyboard, thanks :)

P.S. jnkweaver you deserve the solution

  8. Hey,
Just 10 minutes ago I was having same issue with my Intel MB. Tried to find out solutions but there is no such solution that really helps. Somehow I realized something & all I did was to remove CMOS battery & then tried to enter BIOS, guess what!!! Yes, it worked :D

Then I retested BIOS, shut down PC, replug CMOS battery & all is ok.

    hope this helps.
