Good gaming rig on a £400 budget?

Looking to build/buy a PC with a £400 (about $700) budget, (I know it's quite a low budget).
Here are some details:

Budget Range: £400 Maximum (About $700 USD)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, but quite a lot of internet browsing aswell.


I also need suggestions for a monitor (On a separate budget to the rest of the PC, around £80 Maximum for a monitor please)


The parts that I need are: CPU, CPU cooler, Motherboard, RAM, Hard drive, Graphics card, computer Case, Power supply, and an Optical Drive. (Optical drive can be cheap, RAM needs to be 8GB, and I DON'T want an SSD.


Do I need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon.co.uk

Location: England.

Parts Preferences: I don't really mind, as long as everything is compatible with each other (i.e as long as a Nvidia Graphics card is compatible with a AMD CPU, or an Intel CPU is compatible with a Nvidia graphics card.)

Overclocking: No.

SLI or Crossfire: I don't know what this means? >>>noob here<<< ;)


Additional Comments: I would like it if my PC wasn't ridiculously loud, and could play games such as BF4, Far Cry 3, Watchdogs, Titanfall, and Minecraft (yup, noob over here!)

I also need it to be able to surf the web with reasonable speed, and create word documents for homework.

Any help is very appreciated, as I havent got a clue where to start with this 'Project'

well thats £437... so a little over budget... but considering everything in there is really good expensive parts that will do 1080p gaming, expect the case and psu are a little cheap but they will do the job and are not as important as cpu gpu ram etc

My only question is, are you sure a dual-core CPU is going to be enough for these games?

Thanks for this! Looks ideal, and I'll let you in on a little secret, I've got a 700w PSU and Micro ATX case already. I just included these two in my list because I would have liked some new ones, but without these, gets me practically on my budget with your build! I will see if I get any more suggestions, and then decide which one to buy.

ah thats perfect you already have the case and psu, in that situation i would get rid of the case / psu combo i listed which will put you at about £411.

but if you wanted to do anything else i would say switch the 750ti for a R9 270x which is an extra £24

Yes the dual core would be enough but an i5 is better. If you have a case and a PSU you can get an i5. BTW what PSU do you have?

I doubt it would; the CPU would bottleneck the 270x.
