I'm using EVGA Precison X to overclock my Gigabyte GTX 770 3x WIndforce and have moved the GPU clock offset to 60 (1197 base, 1249 boost).

My temps during a Kombuster stress test are at 87 degrees which worries me even though I've set the cap at 95. SHould I back off a little or is that normal during stress testing?

Solution
hey brother, actually there is no need to overclock your GTX 770, it can handle 99% of the games at its stock speed with no problems, 87° is a little bit high as nVidia recommend staying under 80° because GPU boost 2.0 feature is commanded by temperature itself, if temps is under 80 your GPU boost should work fine, if it exceeds 80°, your clock speed will decrease !! here's my results

nVidia GTX 770 is a great card, but its no overclock-capable, so keep things cool and leave it at its stock speeds (keep in mind that caps are aging with time x power )

That's normal. As long as when you're gaming things stay in the 60s you are good. Benchmarks, stress tests etc tend to push things to their limits. If you find that during intense gaming you are seeing similar temps then you may want to back down your overclock then. Just save the profile for benchmark purposes and perhaps have a "cooled off" version for your day to day gaming if that makes you more comfortable. In general, the hotter your equipment runs expect a shorter lifespan. Conversely the cooler you run it, the longer it will last. With how well cards are made to stay cool these days it's likely you will want to upgrade your card before you kill it but if you like to play it safe (I love overclocking but I use better judgement and still err on the side of caution) I am all for it. No need to tax your components unnecessarily. If you're getting over 60fps in most games, you're just wearing out your gpu for no reason even if it can technically "handle it" well.

Thats pretty normal and safe temps.

I can recommend the Kracken G10 bracket + aio cooler though for your graphics card. I have overclocked mine from 823mhz (ran around 60'c on reference cooler) to 1250mhz and only hitting 47'c using the G10 + H55 (now in push pull with the fans running very slow around 500rpm). Can be expensive unless you can pick up a asetek cooler for cheap though.

I'm actually comfortable with in game temps but I went ahead and clocked it back down to 1187 (1239 boost) anyway just so I didn't need to swap profiles. The OC added maybe 2-3 more fps in some games (Theif's benchmarks consistently gets an extra 2 fps after OC). Overall I'm fairly happy with its performance.
