Hello I have a AMD FX-6100 CPU and a GTX 760. Is it worth it to upgrade my processor? will it get me better Frames Per Second in battlefield 3 and Arma 3? Is it worth paying $200 for a AMD FX 8350? or should I just get a 6300????

More about : worth upgrade cpu

It's probably not worth upgrading even to 8350, not cost effective.

I'd recommend an FX-8320, it's the same processor as the FX-8350 but lower clocked and doesn't OC as high.

Will a better CPU give me more fps in ARMA 3? I only get 5-10 fps on ultra

You should get higher performances, but you may not notice it.. I'd say it's not worth spending the money on a FX 8350.. most games aren't even using 8 cores yet.. Just get a FX 6300 or stay with FX 6100, doesn't really matter I guess..

You need better GPU and CPU for Ultra.

Lower your expectations. try High/Medium first.

A GTX 760 isn't good enough?

Not for ultra with really high view distances in arma 3. Lower your view distance and you should see a nice bump up in FPS. To experience the insaneness of seeing for miles and miles with ultra settings you have to have a big time GPU, like a 780.

But I don't think your 6100 is really limiting you too much. Wait until the next gen of FX processors comes out, then upgrade. That upgrade will be more worth the money you would have to spend.

Guitarist basically explained the GPU situation.

Don't get me wrong the GTX 760 is not a bad card, it is a good card.

Some games it settings it cannot run on Ultra. Experiment with your graphics setting.

People already said it: lower your settings because guess what - Your system isn't "high end".

Upgrading your current system won't do you much good because you already have a semi new system. Come back in 1-2 years and we can give you advice on what to buy then.

Also: RCguitarist mentioned waiting for the new FX processors? They aren't coming out. AMD scrapped future for FX CPUs so next time you are looking to upgrade a CPU (again, wait 1-2 years) you will have to see what is the best buy atm.

Yes the FX 6100 is pretty bad for gaming, the 8320 like mentioned is a good processor (I had one before I gave it away).

Also don't expect much out of Arma 3, people with high end systems has trouble maintaining 30+ fps.
