Hello overclocking section,

If you wouldn't mind helping me out, I'm trying to decide what my optimal specifications for RAM would be for my preferences:

24/7 overclock (CPU); ~4.5ghz. Am not looking to benchmark, but to simply achieve comfortable gaming experiences, for as long as possible (at least a few years, with regards to suitable RAM).

So far, scouring thread after thread and website after website (namely http://www.overclockers.com/3step-guide-to-overclock-in... find without quotes: "ram will reduce"), I'm thinking these RAM criteria are best:

1866mhz, <10 CL, <1.5volts. What do you have to say about these qualities of the RAM for my specified purpose and background? Is it optimal? What is optimal, if not? I do realize these qualities of RAM play only so much of a role, but I want to run my system as prolonged as I can with the overclock.

Thank you for reading

With Ram, The faster the speed, the faster the ram. the lower the Cas Latency (CL), the faster the ram.

1333Mhz CL8/9

1600MHz CL9

1866MHz CL9

2133MHz CL10

2400MHz CL11/12

As you can see, 1866Mhz comes out as the best option for Speed/CL performance.

With LGA 1150 Motherboards, ram runs in dual channel, so having two/four ram sticks in at a tie works best.

So I would go with 2x4GB 1866Mhz Trident-X or Ripjaws X 2x4GB 1866Mhz.
