evga gtx 670 FTW 2gb
8gb corsair vengance
ive never played skyrim on the pc before so im not sure how well my pc will do, will it max everything out?

Solution
yes it will, you would only need more if you plan on installing alot of mods etc, and in that case you would just need to upgrade the gpu, perhaps to a 770/780.

but as mentioned you probably wont see too much past 30 fps on max, probably topping at about 40fps

I doubt it will max everything. Most likely, it will get about 30fps on high-ultra settings, depending on your resolution. If you play at 1920x1080 or higher, i expect you to get under 30fps on ultra. If you want a full 60fps, you might need to lower some settings.

thanks. ill turn a few things down when its done. this summer i hope to get the 780ti or whatever comes next

vanilla skyrim, you will max out every setting even at 1440p.

benchmarks at max settings for multiple resolutions.....
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-660-ti-benchmark-review,3279-9.html
keep in mind this is an old benchmark and drivers have matured and you can expect between 5-10% performance increase to each card on that list.

modded skyrim can get very demanding with meshes and textures and ini tweaks. look into getting boris's original enb at enbdev. that will help out on memory management and will enable software smaa which will add 10-15fps over the skyim built in msaa. also overclocking the 4670k will add fps too. you can fully expect 60fps no problem with a 670@1080p.

Mods play a huge role in Skyrim since the Vanilla just "looks bad" alot of mods improve the game.. WITHOUT touching your Frames such as the realistic lighting mod, water mods, and you can get some fog removal mods that remove the god forsaken fog in some dungeons... I have a GTX 750 w a A8 APU and I run everything on high with 80 fps resolution 720p ... game looks epic!! The plain Vanilla will probly run 60 fps or lower on ultra unless you get some performance mods which is HIGHLY,,, HIGHHLLYYY recommended by the entire skyrim community

max out the af to 16x, it doesn't hurt performance at all. also above 4xmsaa is not very noticeable so your fine running 4xmsaa. if you want a little better performance and quality at the same time, go into the nvidia control panel and force 4xmsaa and 16xaf, you have to match the settings in the skyrim launcher, and you can pick up a few fps while having better quality. also you should be able to force ambient occlusion in the nvidia control panel also, its adds some quality with a minor loss in fps.
