I can afford both. I'm getting a pretty decent sized paycheck this coming thursday. I'm willing to overclock. But not entirely sure if I want to. Opinions? Anyone who owns either chip? Upgraded from the Phenom 980
FX 8320 < It's just an underclocked 8350 , so buy it and overclock it.
how easy does it oc? I know OCing depends on the chip itself and your mobo, Mine is the Asus Sabertooth 990fx (1st gent)
all youd have to do to get it to perform like the 8350 is a simple multiplier boost in the bios.
Thank you, Microcenter pretty much made up my mind lol. I love their prices. I still don't understand how they can stay afloat offering prices even lower than newegg
Go for the 8320.. it does overclock same or even better than its elder brother... i got mine stable @ 4.73 GHz (215 x 22 -1.448V - 33° idle and 59° under full load)
It is even possible to push it further to 5.xGHz but you will need a better mobo-cooling solution..
Best if luck !

what cooler are you using? Currently have a corsair H100

You have a great cooler-mobo combo, you should get 4.5-4.7 with just a multiplier pump.. you can reach 5.2GHz in the future with some experience
I am using a classic air cooler hyper 212 and i leave my case open (i sacrifice silence vs power) but for now i am back at 3.7 because there is no need to oc for now...

Deactivate all other fancy "power saving" features it might hold you back.. try 4.2Ghz as a first run, run prime95 for 5-10 min and a real gaming session of 2hrs should suffice for a stability test...
