What does entry-level graphics card really mean?

I have been told that the gtx 645 is a entry-level gpu, so I was wondering what that really means. Does that mean I can only play really old games? Does that mean I can play brand-new games at low settings? if you need a game to help explain, Rome 2 would work

It means that its basically garbage for gaming. Its an HTPC video card that people try to push onto ignorant gamers.

It really just means the cheapest / lowest spec card you can get away with for modern gaming at low-medium settings.
However you can frequently cross off the latest gpu killer game off your birthday list, like crysis 3 for example.

Both AMD and nVIDA tend to adjust their offerings frequently sometimes renaming cards to fill that exact market.

I dont play battlefield so I cant tell you. I wouldnt want to run crysis 3 on anything less than a 7850 with a pretty strong cpu personally.

If a 645 was paired up with a good cpu (which is unlikely in a budget system an entry lvl card would be used in) I'm sure it could hover around 30fps on medium. You would have to keep the AA off (or very low).

I'm sure you can look up some youtube videos on games you are interested in, with the cards you are thinking of.

going forwards it wouldnt be much of a gaming machine. The GPU is the main thing when it comes to gaming.

I already answered that.

paired with a decent cpu, low-medium should be playable depending on the game. Going forwards, not so much.

Hope you really enjoy mah-jong, solitaire, Microsoft hearts and Tetris, because that's about all the 'entry level' gpus are good for. It's why AMD, nvidia have them, to fill that niche between basic Windows and games with a graphics engine.
