so your suppose to be able to internet share through your "hoc" in windows 7 , ive read i needed a wireless adapter to which i purchased, installed the drivers but atlast that option doesnt show up at all to create an "hoc"

what i am trying to do is make my pc a "hotspot" for my phone to connect to the internet and thus gain a wireless signal from my pc due to crappy signals.

i have a router but that is in another part of the house and (yes) its plugged into my computer now. i cant get a signal in the room im in from that router via wirelessly.

anyone pitch an idea as to why i cant make this work?

i have 1 wireless router and yes i meant ad-hoc.

thats one of the spots i looked at.

but when it tells you to "You'll want to start out by heading into the Network and Sharing Center through the Control Panel, or you can quickly get to it by right-clicking on the network icon in the system tray. Once you are there, find the link for "Set up a new connection or network".
You'll be prompted with a wizard that allows you to connect to VPNs, dial-up, or create a new ad hoc wireless network, which is what we want to do."

it doesnt give me this option.

If your on starter edition then this is a no go but if your on Windows 7 Home Premium make sure you Internet Connection Sharing service is running.

Go to the Start and type 'services.msc' in the search window.

Right click on services.msc and select Run as administrator.

Scroll down to the Internet Connection Sharing service and start it if its not running.

Make sure your wireless network card is turned on.

Go in to the "Network and Sharing Center", and on the left click "Manage Wireless Networks", from here click the add button and "Ad-Hoc network" should be one of the options.

my computer wont "see" this device and the led isnt blinking on the device either. on the network adapter is only one and thats the "wired" slot for the cord.

so i uninstalled and removed the device and re installed the cd.....got this error message before re installing the actual adapter

I would suggest calling tech support. You need to write down the serial number and hardware revision as the manual says before calling. They will be better equipped to fix your issue. As I have suggested all I can think of to fix this issue.

We have discovered:
The card is not showing up in 'Device Management'.
Re-seating the card doesn't help.
Now there is an error (This error is trying to find something on the disc, from what I can see)
