Why do I get huge frame drops in Need for Speed: Rivals with my GTX760 2gb?

I have a GTX 760 2GB as well and a Athom Phenom II x6 1035T 2.6GHZ. In need for speed rivals and most wanted (2012) I get huge frame drops (Only Rivals is a headache sometimes in this sense). Does this CPU bottlenecks my GPU? I'm trying to run Need For Speed Rivals maxed out with a 720p HD tv. I know the game is capped at 30fps but in some places the fps really drop down to an unplayable level.

your gpu is actually bottlenecking the CPU in my opinion..

You meet all there requirements (for the hi side), Do you play on you network, if so, who is the ISP & what speed.
Check your drivers (are they the latest?)
If you have vsync on turn it off (if you have it off try it on)

his cpu is not great for the gpu though.. you can try these things but i still think its a lack of performance from the CPU side

Jimpz is totally right. According to statistics and youtube videos I should be able to run this game hands down with no problem whatsoever. What could it be then?

And no I don't play in a network. Vsync is not an option inside the game. I have tried with Nvidia software to turn it on and off and no difference. Also, low and ultra settings gives same result.

my system meets all the recommendations for COD Ghosts but it still runs like poop because of my CPU... I can almost bet, if you upgrade the CPU... you will no longer have an issue lol.. But take a look at the smaller things.. drivers all up to date? Hw much ram do u have and what speed? Background programs? Fraps? (some FPS indicators can slow down game performance while running, like COD Ghosts) Is your system clean? all these can play a factor but Im still leaning towards poopy cpu

4gb is great for that game but its still not alot.. you gotta think even though you have 4gb of ram doesnt mean the game is using 4gb because your entire system still needs some ram to run windows and other services.. so Im guessing the game is only using 2 or 3 gb or your ram.. which combined with your outdated CPU is most likely why your seeing so many drops

Ok so, no I don't have viruses, at all. No background programs. And yes, I do have FRAPS.

do u use it everytime you play?

That Phenom is about as powerful as an FX-6100 so for most games its weak single threaded performance won't do too well

Though looking at your frame drops, you could always try a clean reinstallation of your Nvidia drivers if you also experience dips in other games, otherwise it'd be a problem with these particular games

And Jason, if you're using that GT 520 you might as well stick with the Radeon graphics on your APU, it's much more powerful than the GT 520

At the same time CoD Ghosts is an unoptimized mess, even systems with a 780 will experience dips and performance hitches

I have checked that out too. But when I'm playing my usage of RAM is about 70% total combined with other programs. CPU is less than 60%

Most of the time.

I'll try it now.

no I WAS using the gt 520 w the apu.. but I upgraded to a gtx 750..I was saying basically that the apu's performance was so terrible I had to use my old gt 520 dedicated until I got a upgrade.. the 750 lol

Oh nice then, I was planning on getting a 750 for a buddy of mine running a prebuild HP

That is a fairly weak CPU, it's definitely holding the 760 back, though in Crysis 3 it should perform admirably since it does take advantage of those extra cores

Here's a chart on Crysis 3's CPU scaling, it hits systems very hard, though at 720p you could always test your luck

I am SO glad you showed us this link.. OP look at this link and look how CPU's right around the performance of yours.. performs on crysis 3 at MEDIUM.. not many fps aye? its the cpuuu LOL !! Ive said it a thousand times and will say it again.. your cpu is just... SHIT its 2.6 ghz .. you need to lower graphics.. or matter a fact.. take that cpu.. burn it.. then buy a A10 if you cant upgrade from a FM2 port mobo..

The 1035T is an AM3 chip, if OP has an AM3+ mobo a BIOS update is all it needs for a CPU upgrade like the FX series (Piledriver)

A decent aftermarket cooler will allow you to overclock that chip a fair bit

That was at 1920x1200, I couldn't many tests running at 720, here's some others

You should be fine in Crysis 3, I'm not familiar with the Need for Speed games so I do not know how their CPU scaling is. Shoddy performance might indicate that it does not take advantage of most of your CPU threads
