I upgraded my motherboard to a Biostar TZ77B after years with a crappy mobo. I started blue screening, and after some research, I learned that I had to do a fresh install of windows 7.
After the fresh install everything worked fine. I then added a 120 mm fan to the side panel of my CM HAF912 case, and my computer started doing the same blue screening it did when I changed the motherboard (halfway through windows splash screen, it would BSOD).
Do I have to do a fresh install of windows just because I added 1 fan?? Cause that seems kinda amazingly ridiculous. Please help me, I'm so frustrated with this thing.

Something else is wrong.
Changing out fans will be completely independent of the OS.

More likely, you have some sort of a short.
Sometimes a side panel fan will impact a cpu cooler.

Possibly the fan is terribly defective. Take it off and you should be good again.
Do you really need a side fan anyway?
If anyplace, I would add the fan as a added intake.
