Here is a link to the build i would like to get in the next couple days. I have NOT picked out a video card yet. I also have the 4770 picked out on this list but i am going to be getting the 4820k processor i7. This machine will strictly be used for gaming and light use. No video editing no large amount of storage. Will be used only to game. I have another computer to do my other work on. Need advice on if this is a good build for about the $2000 dollar range if i can do better with certain parts how much more would it be in comparison. This type of advice is what I'm looking for.

I have my monitors and keyboard mouse everything else I need to complete this build just looking to do the machine itself and all the hardware.

You don't need 16 GB for a game machine. Most games will not utilize more than 4 GB so you would be safe with 8 GB.

You should probably get like a 1 TB hybrid drive in addition to your SSD because you are probably going to need more than 250 GB of space depending on how many games you install.

As for the graphics card I prefer the 770 ti by MSI but it all depends on what you want, high FPS at 120 Hz running max res on a 32 inch monitor or what? You have to give us more detail.

1. Gaming only PC only requires CPU as little as i5-4670(K) in order to receive the best value, only go higher if you want to spend $100 for 5 FPS.
2. With a budget like yours, I would go for a little bit stronger and quieter CPU cooler.
3. RAM usage rarely go over 8 GB for tasks like game, therefore 8 GB will be the best value.
4. Samsung 840 PRO is not recommended by me because of it's price difference when comparing with it's value brother, 840 EVO. Again, it's one of those paying extra $50 for little to non noticeable gain.

Here is a modified version, a modified power version.

I could be wrong, since I am still very early into learning myself so I'm looking to be corrected here, but:
I was under the impression an i7 processor doesn't really add to a gaming build for the price and is more for video editing/encoding.
I've been seeing a lot of suggestions tonight include i7s in gaming builds upwards of $1500, which is why I'm curious.

(I apologise for intruding on your thread, Chuckles, hoping my question might save you a little bit of money as well as add to my learning. Especially since you specified you will not be video editing.)

As for storage, you can get a 120GB SSD for less than $100 and use it for your OS and a couple of favourite games and get a 1TB WD for just shy of $60 for everything else? It's what I plan on doing, at least.

Samsung EVO 840 (Newegg)
WD 1TB (Amazon)

Edit, my question was answered in the time it took me to reply. Again, my apologies.

I total agree but there are times when people get the words "Gaming Marching" and "Enthusiast Build" mixed up. It appears the op may be wanting the latter but until there is more information on what he/she is going to do with this rig we can only guess.
