I know this is old tech and my chances of an answer are probably slim, but I figured I would give it a shot. I built a Windows box around this mobo a few years ago and gave up on it when I could not find a solution to the power-cycling issue. I did not want to abandon it and have recently tried again to make it work.

When I turned the machine on, it powered up just fine and stayed up through the million or so updates that were required after being off for a couple of years. The problem resurfaced when it tried to restart. It turns on and turns off at random intervals. Sometimes it will power up for a couple of minutes, then it will shut down. Usually, it fires up for between 2 and 5 seconds, then it shuts down again. Typically, it will stay off for four or five minutes between restarts, though that is not completely consistent.

I have tried searching for this problem and have found a couple of leads, but nothing solid enough to work. I did replace the power supply, which did not help.

GigaByte GA-EP45-UD3R REV. 1.1
Kingston KVR 800 D2 N6 K2 / 4G
INTEL Core 2 Duo E7500
ASUS EN 9500 GT/DI/1GD2/V2/A
Creative Soundblaster X-FI TITANIUM FATAL1TY Professional series
X-Power Pro 650 watts

I have unplugged everything but a USB keyboard and monitor.

Fingers are crossed.

The fact that the power-off sometimes occurs before you reach Windows would suggest it's a hardware failure, so you're on the right track. That motherboard has a dual bios feature. Have you tried flipping to the secondary bios?

I must admit, though, it sounds like a power issue to me. If replacing the PSU didn't help you may have a bad connection somewhere. Double-check every internal connection, or even better, remove and re-seat components where possible. Try booting with a different hard drive, different RAM, or with the video card removed if possible.
