Since my 7950 ATI broke (for the second time) I'm giving up on ATI and going for Nvidia

But I'm stuck whether I should get a 770 GTX 2gb/4gb or a 780 3Gb.

The price gap is around a hundred dollars which is pretty huge for me for I could use that couple of dollars to buy a new cpu.

Budget isn't really my issue, but my issue is -- is it going to be worth my money?

I play AAA games at max settings but I've only played at 60ghz 1080p because I'm limited on my current monitor and I don't plan on going 3 monitors for a while.

I'm currently using:

i7 bloomfield 2.66ghz (1st gen quad core)
16GB Corsair Vengeance Ram 750w Corsair PSU and so on..

so what do you guys think? also what manufacturer should I get (my friends tell me to get EVGA but I like Gigabyte's 3 fans but I still want your opinion).

is there any huge difference between two motherboards? Is it easy to OC that CPU?

Hero has better onboard audio and good overclocking ability (it's ROG)

Well the Hero is optimised for gaming (Feature wise not performance wise) has loads of features, supreme FX audio, better overclocking cabilty then most boards
but if your on a low budget the Asus Z87-A is a great choice

Asus Z87-A : https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87A/
Asus Maximus VI Hero : http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_HERO/

Can you recommend a Liquid CPU cooler for this?

Id reccomend the NZXT Kraken X60 if your case supports it otherwise the H100i from corsair is fine
and you dont have to worry about leaks because there closed.

go along with gtx 770 over gtx 780... any gtx 780 is worthless comapared to any gtx 770... gtx 780 is only about 10-20% faster than gtx 770 while its price is 60% more expensive... dont buy gtx 780 before you regret it...
