Hi guys !
im building a gaming pc for a friend of mine, and i have come across an extremely strange issue. we finished putting it all together and when turning it on for the first time, it came on for a split second and switched off, but everything was plugged in correctly.

his specs:
PSU: 750M corsair 750 watt
CPU: amd fx 6300 series
GPU: EVGA GTX 760
MOBO: M5A78L-M/USB3 - Asus
OPTICAL DRIVE: standard samsung disk drive
HDD: samsung 1TB

now here's the problem i have. when taking the computer apart to find the problem i accidentally knocked that lithium battery out on the mother board and i hadn't noticed that i did, so we turned the PC on stripped to bare and it started working ! but i noticed the battery was out so i put it back (whilst the PC was off obviously) , and then when going to turn it on again, it came on for a split second again and switched off? so i told him to send the motherboard back and get a better one with a different brand.
but what i want to know is why that happened.

(bearing in mind this is my first PC build and my first time posting here)

much thanks in advance
Filipe

Looks like the motherboard is faulty, RMA it while you can.
