Hello Everybody

So I'm thinking about upgrading my current gpu AMD HD 7770 to something else. I was thinking that i will go with Nvidia 770(or maybe 760) but I'm not sure if my psu will handle it or should i buy cheaper gpu. Or if someone could explain to me how to pick right PSU.

only thing i want to buy is GPU (maybe different cooler from arctic) and I'm not overclocking anything, too lazy to learn how to do it.

my current pc is
CPU: intel i5 3450
GPU: AMD HD 7770 (sapphire ghz edition)
Ram: 2x4 GB 1600 Kingston
Disk: OCZ 60GB SSD
WD 1 TB 7200 64mb cache (not sure about version so I'm writing it like this)
DVD RW
about four or five fans 120mm

PSU : Seasonic SS 500ET

I'm playing in resolution 1600x1200

I'm not resident in UK or USA so i will try to list cheapest prices for each type of gpu in dollars using market price in shops so i can get most power for small price

AMD R7 260x +-130$
NVIDIA 750Ti +-165$
AMD HD 7850 +-210$
NVIDIA 660 +- 210$
AMD R9 270 +-220$
AMD R9 270x +-235$
AMD HD 7870 +-280$
NVIDIA 760 +-280$ (most of them got bonus in form of game for 50$)
AMD R9 280 +-340$
NVIDIA 770 +-380$
AMD R9 280X +-360$
NVIDIA 670 +-475$

i would like to see performance increase at least 50% or 80%
games i will play newest game i can think of will be Witcher 3 if this can help.

Sorry for my terrible English i hope that it is understandable.

it is true that he should wait for the maxwell line as it is allegedly a pretty significant performance boost(rumors). but if you cant wait i would go with a 760. it takes 2x 6 pins
760= 170w/12v= 14.2a
i5= 84w/12v=7a
chipset/memory tdp is no more than 6a
so at max load your system draws 27.2a
your psu pushes 34a on 12v rail so your good there
you will see a significant performance increase
here is some benchmarks of a non reference 760 (all will perform similar)
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_760_HAWK/8.html
you can see its performance in 1600x900 your performance will be a little less to to you are using 1600x1200(more pixels)
but if you can wait i agree with bigshootr, wait to see the performance of the 860 as it is...
Your english is quite fine as a note :) I would say a mid range card is probably the best bet for you really. For you I would go this route r9 280/x, GTX760, GTX770. What you may want to do though is wait and see if Nvidia will have a card that will include Witcher 3 given that its a Nvidia optimized game. I did a little digging not quite sure myself and it's going to use Nvidia hardware Physx which means its a Nvidia game and may or may not be included with cards. Keep in mind the game isn't due to release till late this year so chances are you may be looking towards the 800 or 900 series of cards as your best bet for the best performance with that game.

can you tell me what kind of pcie pins it has. i.e. 2x 6pin pcie. i have looked and cant find anywhere.
a 770 takes a 8 pin and a 6 pin so to rule out what your system can actually handle via connections can you please verify

His power supply only comes with 6 pin connections not +2 connections.

It's still in my opinion to early to really buy a card for a game that releases at the end of the year. I would personally wait and see what develops. And by then I'm sure the cards that he may be looking at probably won't need a extra 2 pin connector due to the cards becoming less reliant on lots of power.
