pc sound issue

i upgraded my dell inspirion 1420 from windows vista to windows 8. after this when i play any audiothere is no sound but with headset i can hear. pls help me

Is the headset plugged directly into the laptop or does it have a usb dongle? Go to Device manager
Search type 'Device Manager' click Settings > click Device Manager.
Does anything have a ! (exclamation mark), X?
