I have a 2Tb external hard drive that I plan to put everything on, and I changed the processor.

I dont want to buy another Graphics card as I am being given the gtx 580, and I got the k version. Is the k version for overclocking?

You don't power a $1000 PC build with a $30 Coolmax PSU. The PSU you choose should be the one of the first, and most important parts of the system you pick out. Get a quality unit, if it was given to you, toss it in a recycle bin, I would not even consider putting it in my new build. The 580 GPU is way outdated for the pricing and there are many way better choices for the money today. But if it was given to you, okay it's fine to start with.

You'll be doing yourself a huge favour by getting an SSD for your system drive - 120Gb will be large enough, and there are plenty to choose from though I might suggest a Samsung Evo 840. An SSD will make a massive difference to how fast your PC feels in everyday use

Don't bother with that 160Gb, which I'm guessing is old given its size - it will only die on you all too soon, and then you'll have to start installing everything again (and you may lose data...)

Ok point taken, I was confused with what was being said. Im being given the PSU im not sure of the brand but it is 700w I stuffed up with the 600w sorry for coming across as arrogant.

Hey man, if the 580 was given to you(great gift) then by all means use it. It gives great performance and I'm very jealous as I only get to use a 660. Even though your 580 is "outdated, " it performs better than today's mid range cards and equivalent to high end cards.

Don't use the power supply that was given to you as it is not as reliable and trusted as brand name units. Also you do not need to spend 100s+ for your PSU. You can run a 780 with a 430w, 680 SLI's build only uses 350 w on full load. So you could easily get away with a 500w PSU, but go ahead and spend an extra 10-20 for a 600w reputable PSU. It's all you will need.

You don't have to get the "K" model if you don't plan on overclocking, but make sure you still use a aftermarket cooler overclock or not to keep your PC cool and quiet.

I feel like it's always a great choice to have a SSD because it makes your PC feel how it's suppose to be. I do recommend for the 840 evo, it's very reliable and how great speeds.
But even a cheap ssd is a big improvement over a HDD, and upgrading from SSD to a "faster SSD" isn't as noticeable.

Have fun with your build!

Thank-you for your advice, I don't really have time to muck around with what you have suggested just now but I will in the morning. I'm not sure I want to over-clock because I would have no idea where to start and I don't want to cause unnecessary damage. But I have a look on Google before I make up my mind
Once again thank-you for everyone who has helped.

I think overclocking is great, but not a necessity. It's for people who are enthusiast and want to push their PCs past what the manufacturers have defaulted.

It won't make your apps open faster, it'll give you better benchmark scores and faster render times. It's also possible to gain some fps in games that are more CPU intensive, but having an Intel, that's not much a problem.

You won't destroy your parts overclocking with great help around. But it may be an interest in the future, but either way your PC will perform amazing without overclocking.
