APU Experts please can you answer???

AMD A10 5800k (Trinity) 3.90GHz (4.20GHz Turbo)
VS
AMD A10 6790K (Richland) 4.00GHz (4.30GHz Turbo)

The price of AMD A10 5800k (Trinity) is $5 cheaper than AMD A10 6790K (Richland)
Please answer which is better in performance without overclocking and why? Thanks!

Richland is about 5% faster than Trinity assuming the same clockspeed. Given the price difference of only $5 I would just go with Richland which official supports DDR3-2133 RAM. Trinity is capable of also using DDR3-2133 RAM, but it is not guaranteed. It likely depends on which motherboard is used with Trinity.

No. At the same clocks, Richland and Trinity have exactly identical performance.

It's only the A10-6800K that (officially) supports DDR3-2133, all the other Richland APUs have the same 1866 limit as Trinity.

I quickly reviewed some performance benchmarks between the AMD's flagship Richland and Kaveri APUs. Kaveri does in fact have a small overall CPU performance increase over Richland. That small CPU performance increase will at best only result in marginal game performance increase at best, but outside of games there is a small performance increase.

looks like the A10 6790k has a better integrated GPU. id go with that. if not adding a discrete gpu for a while. . . i have both of those APU's. and will be using the A10 6790k in the HTPC. and the A10 5800k in the PC with a decrete GPU.
