What should I pair with for better results

Hey toms, my rig is in the signature and i'm currently building another with a 4770k. What i'm asking is, I have a 780ti which I was originally going to pair with the 4770k and keep my 670 in my 3930k rig but after thinking about it what rig would you pair the 780ti with for better results? ( I know both CPUs are overkill for gaming, I do alot of video editing to)

seriously I know that it's a 6 core but most games don't use all them cores anyways. would the haswell architecture not be far superior in games that use no more than 4 cores?

Lol they're not both for pure gaming mate. it's just if I am going to be gaming what should I throw the 780ti into.

Well neither CPU is going to bottleneck a 780Ti. However I'd say that the 4770K may be the one to pair it with based solely off the base and turbo clocks. No games are utilizing 6 cores, most don't utilize 4. Therefore having fewer faster clocked cores (when you have 4 versus 6) might give the 4770K a slight edge. In all practicality, I seriously don't think there will be much difference. Now if you are using video editing software that can leverage both the CPU and GPU at the same time, then the winner would probably be the 3930K assuming the software is multithreaded as well.

I am sorry. I am not really familiar with Intel's processors. And the reason why I chose the 3930K is because I think some games like Battlefield 4 can use more than 4 cores for a better performance. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah I will be doing heavy video editing so the 3930k shines there but I would like the higher clock speeds from the 4770k which probably could get a few extra FPS. Should I just run my own benchmarks and see what's more suitable?

No problem buddy

This is exactly what I'd do. You're in an extremely good position. BF4 uses all 6 of the cores on my 3930K, but even so, for gaming - based on most reviews I've read - the 4770K seems to get a little bit better performance. Although, I play mostly multi-player BF4 which definitely benefits from more CPU power. I'd be curious to see what you find.

Good stuff mate then i'd be better of benchmarking them and i'll post results if curious. Also if you don't mind me asking, I would like to get back into bf4 but have the fixed the net code and rubber banding, dampened my experience when playing it.

Is it all fixed? No. The rubberbanding seems to be fixed, but they introduced the sound bug in team deathmatch again. Some of the guns are still bugged by which the hit marker will disappear or does not appear consistently when firing (no hit marker=no damage). There are really a number of bugs still in this game, but it's fun.
