Is there another game like Borderlands 2?

Hi, I am kind of new to modern PC games, and this forum recommended Borderlands 2 and Bioshock 2 for me to try out. I really like both games, but BL2 has the secret sauce of humor and fun weaponry (luv the turret gun) that has me hooked. In fact, I plan on playing all other character classes and DLC for quite a while going forward.

Are there other games similar to BL2 that combine action, humor, and have a long shelf life?

You have to play skyrim. The humor is more hidden, but the game is epic. Portal is pretty popular for it's quirky humor, but not so much action. Fallout 3 is somewhere between borderlands 2 and Skyrim. All the games I mentioned have many hours of content except for portal.

I tried Skyrim on the Xbox and know what you're talking about, but the game itself has way too many quests and travel to keep me interested. I recall something about wanting to make better weapons but it required a lot of prerequisites. I like BL2's concept of vending machines: all you need is money and the skill level to buy a weapon, and the mods made sense. Plus there's ammo and guns everywhere.

I'll take a closer look at fallout 3.

Borderlands games are somewhat unique in the sense that they are roleplaying games with 1st-person shooter mechanics. Fallout 3 comes close to that but it has a more serious tone, and I personally found it to be too stiff in the way it handles. Try "Bulletstorm". It is mainly a shooter, but it is built on the same engine as the BL games (Unreal Engine 3)...

...and it can get pretty zany. You can probably grab it for under $10 from an online store.
