Is hyper 212 evo the best choice right now for under 40$?

Hi, I'm a newbie who's trying to build my first PC build using the Bitfenix Prodigy case.
I will buy the i5 4670k, and still deciding what CPU cooler should i buy.
I won't overclock for right now, but maybe in the future...
I mainly play dota2 and some graphic intense shooting games if i have time

My question is, is hyper 212 evo the best choice right now for under 40$?
I don't mind paying up to $60 if there's an alternative that performs much better that the hyper212 evo

For under 40 that is by far the best choice. If you want to spend more money look at the Noctura coolers they are better but cost a fair bit more

I agree with Spectre694. There are only 1 or 2 in this price range that perform a little better, but one is no longer available and the other is LOUD.

I'd stick with the 212 EVO.

you mean like Noctua NH-C14? it probably won't fit the case :/ plus it's almost triple the price of hyper 212
BUT the performance is really outstanding!

Exactly they are huge and expensive but for air they are hard to beat. The 212 is one of the best coolers around though and by far the best bang for your buck

You don't want to pay anymore than $25 for the Hyper 212, I paid $21 for mine, and $17 for the TX3.

212 is king at this price range.

other alternatives simply are not as good or loud/hard to find.

for more money(and larger case requirement) noctua nh-d14 is brilliant but in your budget the 212 is fine.

The CM Hyper 212 EVO http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005O65JXI is by far the best under $40 and right now under $30 after rebate.

I had the 212 Plus on my 2600K @4.2GHz and was at 28C idle and barely broke 70C running Prime 95. I did have a push/pull fan setup though.
