GTX 780 ti life expectancy?

More specifically... How long do you think the 780 ti will stay relevant? Will it still be a viable and worthy card for the next few years or maybe longer?

given that an 8800gt from 2006 can still play any game at 720p and 30fps, I would say that since 780ti is a top shelf model, it will play any game at 1080p for the next 10 years provided you keep the heat off of it and prolong its life. I still use a gtx 470 that is 4 years old. It plays Crysis 3 on 1080p medium at 45 fps. What more could someone ask for really? I may upgrade when the high end maxwell cards come out, but I really dont need to.

there is no way it will play games at max settings for 10 years.

Never said it would play it at max settings. I just said it would play any game at 1080p for ten years. Besides, what does "max settings" mean? Does that mean ultra quality on three 1080p displays at 144hz in 3d? Or does it mean ultra quality on a 4k display @ 60fps? I said 1080p because it qualified my answer to a specific set of parameters. Your reply is very ambiguous.

I'm running a 8300GS - ancient card - still runs MMOS and MW2 - can't play ghosts and haven't tried MW3. never tried anything intensive, but still very usable for weak games.
780 Ti as long as you keep it nice and pampered there's no reason why it can't run for 6 years +

max settings means on ultra 1080p 60+fps. and also, the 780 Ti will be very lucky to survive 10 years, and by survive i dont mean the line of 780 Ti's, i mean the 1 specific card, it will probly give out and fail in 5-7 years, or 3-4 if you overclock it.

theres no real answer to the question but i appreciate all of your input! Im really considering getting this card and by what all of you told me...it should last at least 6 years if i dont strain it too much.
