Hey Folks,

So I'm looking at upgrading parts of my computer, but to make my computer more performing, I'm looking into overclocking aswell.

Now I'm totally green on this field, so please bear with me - Heres my specs:

case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811294002
CPU - i7 860 @ 2.80 GHz
Mobo - Gigabyte P55M-UD2
Cooling is the standard in the case
PSU: some random 650W, I'm pretty sure its a bad one, so I might need to switch this one aswell.

My question is now, what do I need to OC my processor, and how much can i OC it?

I've got a recommendation of the hype 212 evo cooler for the CPU - Would it fit my case, and would it make the CPU OCable? Or what do I need to do it?

follow thig guide http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/263043-29-1156-core-core-overclocking-guide, but yes, do upgrade your cooling before you overclock. the 212 is 159mm tall roughly, and so you would measure from the top of your cpu to the inside of the case to make sure it fits, otherwise try something like an h55 from corsair if you arent planning to spend a whole lot on a cooler
