I got this Powercolor reference 7970 and recently it started to crash when under load. The card is not overclocked 925/1375.

#1 When running 3dmark11, usually halfway in the computer would get a black screen/pattern screen and hangs. Same with games like planetside 2 it will get a black screen or pattern screen after a few min.

#2 Also when booting up the computer, There's 70% chance it will not get to the POST. I have to keep restarting the computer and pray it will post.

#3 This maybe minor but the card only runs at PCIE 8x instead of 16x.

I have tried another HD7970 on my system and problem does not exist so I'm fairly sure its the video card causing this. PSU is 650W running single 7970 and 4670k with no OC

Is there anyway to fix this or is this card paper weight? I don't have the receipt anymore so they will probably reject my RMA.

Hope your warranty is still good. I would say it's dying. I mean if you even went so far as to switch out another card and it works. The card is bad. Call the company up and find out about their return policy let them know your situation. Don't be a jerk and you would be surprised what you can get away with.

Indeed, just be nice. You'd be surprised how annoying it is to deal with RMA nerd-rage over the phone. (You seem nice enough). I'm just gonna agree with the previous posted. Your graphics card is damaged.
