Hi Guys

I recently built a new rig and went for a Corsair CS750M power supply. It seems to work however every now and then i get a ticking noise - lasts about 30 seconds then goes. To me, it sounds like the fan catching on something but that doesn't make sense because its not always there. There doesn't seem to be a relation to system load either - happens idling & under full load. Any ideas what it is? Should I RMA it?

faulty fan most likely, though i'm pretty sure the fan on it isnt even supposed to spin until it gets past a certain load. really try to make sure it isnt something else being nicked by a fan, otherwise rma it

there is no sound the ticking could the fan or a electrical one test the psu in the dark and see if there is any spark light that come from the inside .

Corsair CX series are not using good capacitors inside of it (CX 430 is pretty good cuz it's so cheap and still better than other generic low wattage PSU by a lot)

The noise that you're hearing could (maybe) coil whine, which can cause by bad PSU, or specific system combination. If you still can, I would return it and get something else (I can recommend some depending on your full spec), or RMA and hope for the best.

Update: after you tried the fan testing from above.

Sounds like the fan, definitely. And Brantyn, I think only the RM series from Corsair has no fan spin until past 30% or so load, but I may be wrong.

Try using a can of compressed air and blowing through the fan to get anything stuck out. If that doesn't work, get in touch with Corsair, they may send you a new one.

The fan is constantly running - Should it not be? And its not catching on anything else - had it out the case to make sure.
