Does RAM increase with SLI?

When I configure two graphics cards in SLI mode, do the graphics cards work together to create double the memory size?

No. In SLI mode, each graphics card uses its own frame buffer memory to render a 3D application. The operating system will report a graphics card frame buffer memory size that is found on a single graphics board.

So the OS will tell a game that you only have 1gb of RAM, and the OS will think you only have 1gb RAM.

as for if its better or not, hard to say. some games play better in sli, some play better with 1 bigger card. i switched from sli 670s to a single 780ti. i switched because i was sick of waiting for sli supported drivers for new games. some games i play worked better with the sli 670s, others with the 780ti now. unlesss you like messing around with custom sli profiles, i would stick with the single 660ti. less headaches. but with that being said, i probably will end up going with sli 780ti's, just cuz i like to waste money lol

If each one uses it's own independently then isn't that the same as 2gb?

Basically SLI of 1 GB cards will yield a total of 1 GB VRAM, same ratio goes to all SLI/CF.

As I've suggested before, I would go with GTX 760 and not GTX 660 Ti or SLI, due to new technology, longer support period from Nvidia, and less driver issue.

I'm a big ASUS fan, had one of their boardslast 6 years, and I took i out still working like the day i bought it, even after extensive OC'ing.
