I just got my new GeForce Gtx 660 superclocked edition and my psu I installed. I triple checked all of the cords everything is plugged in, the card is seated tight the wattage and amperage is enough to supply it and I can hear and see the fans moving on the psu and gpu, soon as I plug in the display cord nothing. Then I go and plug it into my motherboards display port and it works fine. I uninstalled all previous drivers.

Hi

There is often a BIOS option which sets which graphics device to show output on before windows loads

It is often not as clear as internal/external
read the user guide

also what sort of video cable are you using ?
VGA (blue db15), DVI, HDMI or dispay port ?

are you plugging video cable in before or after starting PC up ?
If no cable detected output may be turned off

regards

No the problem is I can't install a driver when the gpu is plugged in. Soon as I start the PC up its a black screen I can't click on anything and I can't install the driver without the card in either. I'm using d-sub I think that's what it is. It's blue. Yes I plug the display cord in before starting and I've tried after starting my PC

You should try following steps:

1) If you have on-board graphics take out the graphic card run windows and uninstall any previous video drivers and then do a fresh install of all the video drivers for the graphic card.

2)Then install you GPU and check if it solved the problem.

Note:In your bios settings the default video output should be selected as : PCIE for your system to use the PCIE graphics instead of on-board graphics. DO NOT disable on-board graphics while doing this(i.e On-Board Graphics: OFF).

3)If still no success then check whether there are any instructions in the manual indicating which display port you should connect to out of the two and do so.

4)If your monitor supports a dvi cable, connect it to any of the two ports on the graphic card, which ever is supported.(one of them is DVI-I and other is DVI-D).You should check with both the connectors on the graphic card.

[Note:
-If you are using a vga to dvi-d adapter I think you should connect to the DVI-D port on the graphic card.
-If your monitor has a dvi-d connector you cant connect it to the DVI-I port first.]

I don't think your graphic card is broken, if your system boots successfully. Its either a driver issue or some installation or connection issue, I guess.

PS: if you have any confusion regarding ports, you can google vga,dvi-d,dvi-i. IReading you previous posts in this thread I am confused whether your monitor has a dvi port/cable or a vga port/cable.

I think the problem was the motherboard. I ran the card on another computer but I got a black screen but the mouse showed. Anyways I bought a new motherboard anyways and processor. So as soon as I test that out if I still have problems I'll get back to the forums.
