Getting confused with my intended purchase of Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM to replace XP. Have read many on line content and advice and reviews, and need confirmation that this is the right way to go. Will the OEM version have security updates provided by Microsoft as needed????

Solution
If your copy is a legal copy of Windows you will get all proper windows updates provided by Microsoft.

Windows 7 updates are done through Windows updates utility built into the operating system, unlike XP which are done through a website (minus the update utility).

OEM and Retail versions of Windows are identical in programming. The only difference between them are the license agreement (for how many times it may be installed) and OEM's lack of technical support. You cannot call Microsoft Technical Support with problems, but any programs/security updates are fully available to you for the lifetime of the OS. The update utility will work perfectly.
